Requests for Help

Return to Wilkie Collins Appreciation Page

A number of visitors to this page have asked for various kinds of help with projects to do with Wilkie Collins. It seemed like a good idea to have a place here where those requests could be aired and hopefully help given by other Collins readers.

However, please note that I cannot provide study notes or specific help with school or college assignments! Sorry, kids, you are just going to have to do the work yourselves. (Usually these requests start along the lines of "I have to have an assignment in by the end of the week...")

Michael Theodorou wrote (13 April 2002):

I was commisioned to dramatise The Moonstone for a school's edition by Nelson Thorne in 1999. They gave me two months to deliver the manuscript and by god I had to work hard! I managed it however and it was accepted without any amendments or changes by the panel and subsequently published. It has had several glowing reviews on the Amazon web page and has also been produced by various companies up and down the country. I myself did a production of it at Wells Cathedral School where I am head of theatre studies. It actually works very well on stage.

Although it has been published in a schools' edition it was never intended solely for kids and I am in fact looking for an alternative publisher who might be willing to publish it for an adult readership.

I believe that Wilkie Collins himself did a dramatisation of The Moonstone though I have never been able to track down a copy. Any ideas as to where I might find a copy? Apparently he did it without mentioning the Indians which I find hard to believe!
